Life is lots better. [02 May 2003|10:19pm]
[ mood | happy ]

Today was a very very good day. Good enough for a really long post, with a timeline.

Woke up, showered, dressed, the usual fun stuff. Then i called Kate, because I'm just nice like that. I left for school, and was late, but I'm late so often that no one really cares any more.

1st period: Mmm. Latin. Snider wasn't there, but we had to take some national something or another that we hadnt known about. it was funny. i guessed lots. then i decided to just kind of leave. got bored, came back. Not much interesting, except that i got a really cool little mini ruler thing that walker just kind of found. Ok, so it wasnt really that cool, but it was free, get over it.

2nd period: English. The study guide for Of Mice and Men [which i still haven't read] was due two days ago. McGaughey forgets to take it up again. This is just the beginning of a seriously ass-kicking day in terms of luck.

3rd: Geometry. We have a test. I get to see Kate before class, so I'm actually pretty happy. I probably did awfully on the test. The fact that I didnt have to listen to Byard go on and on about circles and shit still made this better than usual.

4th: Bio. Played with sheep brains/eyes. What could possibly be cooler than that?

5th: PE. Hahahahaha. This was excellent.

So the gym is still set up from all the awards and stuff yesterday, and the bleachers are still pulled out and everything. So I'm sitting there with Chase, Drew, David, and Sean, among others, and Zaba and Chris are a row ahead of us sitting a little bit further down.

For those of you who haven't had the privlige of viewing the interior of the fine St James gymnasium, a little explaination is required at this point. Because we're so proud of our winning athletic teams, we honor them with large [by this i mean huge] pictures hung along the walls of the gym. These pictures are not particularly well secured, and two of them happen to be hanging right behind were me, chase, et al are sitting.

Now, we all know Zaba is a funny guy, and everyone knows that part of being a funny guy includes throwing things at people. So Zaba decides to throw an oversized basketball at Darden. If you don't know Darden, let's just say he's a special kind of guy. He also has some anger issues. So Darden decides to retaliate for the obvious injustice of letting Zaba get away with hitting him. To do so, he picks up his 3/4 full, fairly big bottle of water, and throws it in the general direction of Zaba.

There's a reason Darden isn't an athlete. That reason is because he has really awful aim. I think most of you probably see where this is going, but i'll tell it anyway because its going to be funny. Darden's throw misses by at least 15 feet, and lands PERFECTLY on the corner of an oversized picture of our softball team [State champs, woo!]. This also happens to be the picture that I'm sitting directly under. Luckily for me, however, it swings off to the right - just far enough to hit the picture next to it! After a few swings, they both come crashing down. The room erupts into laughter [except one of the coaches, who looks like his face might explode] Chase and I feel lucky to have escaped with our lives : )

6th: Debate. Nothing interesting happens. What's new?

7th: History. The General is my new favorite teacher. We had a good bit of homework last night, which about 5% of the class did. Class began like this:

General: As ahh calll yoaah nahm, pleez coohm and showh me yoahh homewerk...wait...did you all hahve anyah homewerk?
Us: No.
General: Oh ok.

It was truly priceless. She actually admits that she isnt coming back next year so she really doesnt care what happens, she has nothing to lose. After listening to THE SAME LECTURE AS WE HAD ALL WEEK, we finally get to go home. This made me happy, because Kate got to come home with me [yay!]. We hung out until 5, and the she had to leave [ :( ]

Ate dinner. Talked with mom and dad. Then i left to go see a movie with arthur. To original plan was to go see that X-Men movie so that we could tell people if it was any good. Yeah, apparently its pretty good - it was sold out. So we decide to go to Identity instead, but it starts later, so we go down to Atlanta Bread Company to waste time, and it turns out Brooke and some other people are there, and have tickets to see what I'm certain will be hailed as a classic film: The Lizzie McGuire Movie (such a stunningly original title). Since i still "owe" Arthur from when he went to see a movie with Kate and I, I agree to change tickets and everything. The movie wasn't terrible, if you dont mind (1) ignoring it's rampantly annoying idealistic "everything will be ok!" plotline (2) blocking out the really really annoying 12-year-old girls, who will inevitably clap along to the crappy music during the sappy and predictable scene at the end. It made me a bit nostalgic for the days that i actually thought there may be some kind of truth buried within these films [Hint - There isnt.] This post is getting ridiculously long...Tomorrow will be fun. More later.
